Cultural Festival
Wow, what an amazing experience this was - our first annual Cultural Festival. I was so proud of our church community in our display of Christ’s love and care for our community. This was an amazing event and as exhausting as it was planning and leading up to this event, I am happy to say it was all worth it. One of our team members had nightmares the night before the event, which spoke to our hearts of wanting this event to be executed well.
We had nearly 50 people serving together. We saw over 100 people participate in this event. There were more than 10 people groups represented and the majority are people who call FAC home. This was a small and beautiful glimpse of what heaven will look like and I for one am so looking forward to it.
Special thanks to all of those who prepared food. What a display and showcase of cultures. I know for many, food is our love language and boy did it talk. Whether it was the delicious taste of the Puerto Rican table, the tasty cuisine of Pakistan, the refreshing deliciousness from the Dominican Republic, a Vietnamese egg roll and fried rice, chicken adobo and sticky rice from Philippines, puff puff of Cameroon or sweet smooth bean soup from Benin, Samosas from India, a hot dog from the USA, or a generous plateful of food from Haiti, I hope you heard, Oneness, Hospitality, and a Genuine desire to belong and be welcomed.
We were blessed to have all these cultures represented. I am thankful for the tireless effort that went into making this event possible. The joy of serving together was real and I can’t wait to do it again! Thank you once again to all of you for making the Cultural Festival not only possible, but a beautiful reality.
